About Medical Prep.......

The idea for the kind of training represented here was first launched in 1992 by Bill Hess, who at that time retired from a 45 year career of teaching and self-employed business activity. His teaching experience included secondary public schools, county vocational schools, and community colleges. He presently is teaching in the Continuing Education Department in fifteen North Carolina Community Colleges and several out-of-state schools via the internet.

After obtaining a license from Create-A-Quiz in Falmouth, Virginia, he began developing the self paced computer programs offered here. Course material was first offered on a spreadsheet, then on 5" floppy disks, then on 4 1/2 " disks, and now on CD-ROMs. At this time, Asymetrix Toolbook II Assistant is the authoring program of choice.  In 1999, the State of North Carolina adopted Blackboard as the vehicle for the 58 community colleges in the state to use as the platform for distance learning courses via the internet. Now this instruction material on CDs is integrated with this Blackboard platform. During the past  years these programs have been used in a computer classroom setting and via the internet with increasing success.

These CD programs can be used in the following ways:

1. Offered by Community College Continuing Education Departments as a instructor led distance learning courses via the internet with the student using the CD on their home or office computer and Blackboard on the school server.

2. In an instructor led classroom setting (computer lab) with the CD as the sole source of training material.

3. Purchased by hospitals, medical offices and individuals for self-paced in-house training.
