Subject: Last Quiz

Mr. Hess, I am taking the Medical Billing Class at RCC.  I have just completed all 11 quizzes.  I am very upset with the score on Quiz 11.  I input all the data into Medisoft that was included.  I made a 55 on the test.  I do not understand how it happened. I was very careful and back checked all my entries.  I made a total of 875 points on all the quizzes. I hope this was enough to pass the course. I am already working in a medical billing job with Eagle Physicians in Greensboro   (a job I got right after finishing the Medical Office Practice Certificate). I hope to one day be a CPC. Thanks for help throughout the course.

Mr. Hess:

First of all, before I took your classes, I sent out so many resumes. I got zero call backs.  But after taking your online classes, I sent my resume out again to many places, and got so many calls. I went to interviews at Doctors offices, Urgent Cares, Ambulatory centers, etc.  In one day I actually had ten messages for job interviews on my answering machine.  They were very impressed that not only had I taken these classes, but that I had taken them online. I am currently working at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center . I love it!  The pay is much more than what I was making at my previous job.       Thank you so much and keep me posted on future classes.

I have really learned a lot of things from this course. I have been working as an outpatient coder for the past 3 years.  I code what is called med. center records or free standing urgent care centers for a hospital here in Macon Ga. called Medical Center of Central Georgia. I did not have any formal training as a coder.  I really lucked up to find this position.  I had worked as an L.P.N. in the occupational health center at this same hospital.  I began to 'burn out" at that position when this one became available.  I have looked around for a long time trying to find something to further my knowledge in the coding field - something convenient for me so that I would not have to leave my 2 children alone in the evenings and something that I could work with anytime that I had the time, early in mornings or late at night on the weekends etc.  I just cannot believe how much this course has taught me . I started with the Evaluation and Management Section of the course.  I must admit this section is very difficult for me. I have repeated this section 3 times and my grades are really not as high as I would like.  I have completed the Fraud and Abuse section  and  I was pleased with this section.  It was helpful to me because of some workshops that I have attended at work. This helped me to better understand those workshops. Could you recommend any other courses that I could take after this present one?  I have been looking at ordering books on coding that offer the CEU's after you complete a mini course on the book and an exam at the end of the study of the book and the exercises.  What is your opinion on doing something of that nature?

Hello Mr. Hess,

It has been a little while since I last sent you a report on my progress! I thought that you would like to know that I have been accepted at Morehead Memorial Hospital for the Emergency Room Registration Clerk ! I was very pleased , because I have been trying for so long to get a job there .  I believe that taking the Medical Office Practice and Accounting Courses  caught their eye and enabled me to prove my abilities !  Even though I do not have my Certificates , I was able to give them proof of completion of my course by a form given to me from the RCC personnel ! This is great !  It did not take long for me to get a job after completing my courses and taking a short vacation after my studies ! Thank you for boosting my career opportunities !

I took my transcription test this morning.  First, I must tell you that  the material on your course was very helpful in preparing me for this test.  In fact the exact same questions that were on the Practice Quiz portion of the course was the written portion of the test.  Also, the tape that I was given to transcribe was some of the exact ones from the course. I did very well on the written portion of the test.  I did not miss one question.  The woman that interviewed me told me that they start newbies out on clinic accounts.  At this time they have enough people to cover those accounts but they are working on getting a new clinic account.  If all goes through with that deal the account will be in place and ready around May 1st.  She showed me a folder of applications for people she has interviewed (it was approximately 1 inch thick) and she said out of that folder there are 3 people she wants to hire and I am one of them.  If the account they are hoping to get doesn't come through for some reason she will hire me when they move some people up.   Thanks for your help.  Your course was great for preparing me for this test

Mr. Hess,

I have completed all of the quizzes and the final exam, thankfully, prior to the end of the extension you gave me (I started this course about 4 weeks late).  I am going to attempt to attach the reports I have transcribed.  I am not sure if you need everything from all tapes, or just the tapes titled "Transcription 1" and "Transcription 2".  I will send them all.  If for some reason you do not receive them, please let me know and I will either try to send them again, or I will mail them.

I want to thank you for such an informative class!  I honestly thought this class would be mostly transcribing from the tapes we purchased, but it proved to be so much more than that!  I feel I have a complete understanding of what being an MT encompasses.  The tools you have provided through this course are priceless!  I took a combination transcription and terminology class three years ago at Wilson Technical Community College, but had to drop out mid-term due to my mother's terminal illness.  I have not been able to get back into this until this year.  I feel much more prepared to enter this field than I would have had I had not taken this class.  In fact, I do not know how anyone can enter this field successfully without the knowledge this class provides.  I enjoyed it so much, I may take your medical coding class in the future. Again, thank you so much!

Bill, I am finishing up the medical transcription course through CCCC in Pittsboro. I have finally finished all the transcriptions and I am attaching them and sending them to you. Please let me know that you have received this as well as the last email. I just have to take the final exam and I'll be through.  I really did enjoy the course. I was a nurse for 15 years and an EMT after that and I learned many new words and procedures I have never heard of before.  It was a good course and well put together.

 Dear Mr. Hess,

I have just completed the Medical Terminology course through Central Carolina Community College. I really enjoyed taking the course on the internet. I was a little concerned in the beginning because I got my CD a
week late. The course allowed me to work at my on pace so I was able to catch up in no time and actually completed a week ahead. I had no problems taking the test, my connection was fine also  the CD  was great . I was able to go over the material until I felt I was ready to take the test.

I enjoyed the fact that I was able to work at my convenience ,sometimes at 6:00 AM. This did not interfere with other responsibilities as I work 2 jobs and have a 16 year old son. So this class was an excellent
alternative. Just like your other students  I had some questions about what courses to take next as I am 47 years old  with  13 years of  clerical experience and wanted to take some courses to prepare me to work in the
medical field. I had questions about which course I should take next,  but thanks to you sharing your emails from other students I now know what courses to take next.  I am interested in working toward a coding certification from the American Academy of Professional coders.

Will you send notifications out to let us know when the next Medical Coding classes will start , what books and/or CD's are required and how to obtain hem or should I get this information from the Community College?  Again, I enjoyed the course!

This is just a note to tell you the Medisoft demo portion of the course is great.  I learned more in that portion than in any of the other areas I have
covered.  My test score does not support this statement - I bombed it - but it was extremely helpful.  Some of the errors I made on the test were
careless and others not - I am usually very meticulous (20 years as a cardiac and surgery nurse).  Keep up the great courses.
